Parent Involvement

There are many ways that parents and the community as a whole can get involved to support our school and our students. The following list are some great ways to encourage student enrichment and help Lied MS succeed!

  1. Assisting teachers by tutoring students that are struggling. RTI math and reading students need extra support to ensure that all of our children are progressing properly in their education. Guest readers are also needed during SST on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Anyone who is able to work with these students, to enhance their education, please let Ms. Ritz aware of your availability at 702-799-4620 or email her at JARitz@interact.ccsd.net.
  2. Volunteering your time or donating rewards for students. Monthly breakfasts and quarterly awards ceremonies show the kids we are proud of them. Spotlighting these students for performing well and excelling in their academics is a great way to keep them motivated!
  3. Gator Gents Program: This program was created to have more male presence on campus. Fathers, Grandfathers and other male figures are encouraged to be present at Lied, during and after school, to allow the students to see strong, responsible and positive role-modeling. Contact Al Washington at 702-799-4620.
  4. The schools no longer have as many teacher assistants as it once did. Therefore, it would be helpful to the staff if volunteers could take a little time to assist with office tasks and classroom assistance such as: grading papers, making copies, running errands for teachers.
  5. Helping the librarian re-shelf books. Trying to re-file the books in between classes can be tricky. This type of assistance allows the librarian to spend more time with the students each period.
  6. After school club support. After school clubs are fun and enriching! Getting involved in these clubs ensures their survival.
  7. Volunteering your time during special events. Some parents aren't always able to stay with their children during every event. Parents who are able to stay at the events will be helping to promote a healthy and cohesive community presence. Contact Tricia Perna at 702-875-2691 or email at tricia@triciaperna.com if there are any events on the calendar you are able to volunteer for.
  8. Anyone able to assist in creating a multicultural lesson plan for culture awareness at Lied MS would be valuable. Every month a different culture is featured. Having guests to highlight each culture and educate the students would be great. excited about your culture?! Contact Ms. Ritz at 702-799-4620.
